Indonesian Total Solar Eclipse 2016
It was a beautiful morning on March 9, 2016 and not a cloud in sight! I was able to capture the latest total solar eclipse! After the 2nd diamond ring in the sky, I presented my girlfriend a third diamond ring and asked her to be my wife and she said yes!
Apparently, we even made it into the Indonesian national newspaper:
Chasing Shadows just got an email saying that we have won the Award of Merit for Feature Documentary in the category of Nature/Wildlife/Environmental!
This is really good news as this is noted as one of the top 25 film festivals to be in and we won an award here.
Thank you all supporters once again! I’ll keep informing you of all these wonderful updates.
For now enjoy more eclipse pictures!

Film complete & Film Festival Premiere
The above video is a 30 second sneak-peak at “totality” during our March 2015 total solar eclipse adventure in Svalbard, Norway.
The Finish
Hope everyone had a wonderful and restful holiday season! We have been working hard at pushing this film out! Just a few more minor tweaks with my sound mixer/designer, Alton, who has been working around-the-clock. As well as some last minute color adjustments to make this film look as beautiful as possible.
If you haven’t already, please fill out the kickstarter survey I sent out before so I know what email to send you the digital download (for select backers).
Washington DC Film Festival World Premiere
Our film has also been tentatively selected to screen at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival happening March 4-14ish. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend as this happens during the Indonesian eclipse that we’ll be chasing on March 9, 2016.
If you are in the DC area and want to see the film on the big screen, please email me at: kolokolopictures@gmail.com
We are trying to setup a skype call around the eclipse to go along with the screening in March as well, but everything is to be determined.
Want to see the next total solar eclipse yourself?
The next total solar eclipse happens in less than two months in Indonesia March 9, 2016. I will be taking my girlfriend along with a few friends with me to view this eclipse. Geoff has not revealed where he will be during this eclipse, but I’m sure he has some crazy scheme and 15+ cameras he’ll be bringing to capture some more breath-taking imagery.
After that, will be in the USA on August 21, 2017 — Remember that date. Keep it open. As it is probably the easiest eclipse to get to. For more information, please check out our associate producer, Michael Zeiler’s, website www.greatamericaneclipse.com
If you miss these next two solar eclipse events, the following ones from the USA eclipse will be harder to get to.
2019 & 2020 in S. America2021 in Antartica.
Go see the next two eclipses if you can, before it gets difficult.
